As the frontier of the current development of digital information technology,the new form of society built by the metaverse that integrates reality and virtual reality not only brings a new digital life experience for human society,but also brings new risks and challenges to the current legal governance of human society.Therefore,it is necessary to adhere to the problem-oriented,strengthen in-depth research,regulate and guide the innovative development of the metaverse according to law.This paper first introduces the background knowledge,basic concepts and development status at home and abroad of the metaverse,then expounds the risks and challenges faced by the legal governance of the metaverse in five aspects:privacy protection,virtual assets,intellectual property,cyber crime,and data governance,finally puts forward countermeasures and suggestions for the legal governance of the metaverse from three aspects:legislative supervision,technical support,and platform self-discipline.
