The Fraunhofer Gesellschaft is a well-known applied scientific research institution in Europe,and the successful experience of stable operation for more than 70 years is of great significance for the high-quality development of new R&D institutions in China.Through the analysis of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft in terms of historical background,organizational structure,scientific research layout,industrial services,and other dimensions,the key factors of innovation practice are summarized,and several suggestions are put forward for new R&D institutions in three aspects:role positioning,achievement transformation and market-oriented operation in combination with the actual situation of China,aiming to continuously optimize China's scientific research management system and assist in promoting new industrialization to accelerate.
