Biodiversity information system is a powerful tool to disseminate information on biodiversity, improve management efficiency, and improve decision-making effects. It is the basis for biodiversity conservation and sustainable use. This paper analyzes the characteristics of biodiversity information, summed up the progress of construction of biodiversity information system in the past two decades. On this basis, with the current shortcomings in information systems it sets out the future direction of key research.
