In order to improve the application effectiveness of biometric technology in video surveillance systems, this paper compares and analyzes the semantic differences between biometric systems and video surveillance systems, and introduces the processing flow and important components of video surveillance systems with biometric capabilities. At the same time,it analyzes the main factors that affect the use of biometric technology in video surveillance systems, and the standardization considerations are proposed from the aspects of hardware deployment, reference database specifications and performance evaluation. Finally, the standardization of video annotation and the further application and promotion of typical biometric identification standards in video surveillance systems are forecasted,so as to improve the overall level of standardization in this field.
