Ontology-based Relational Database Access: a Survey and Future Direction
Ontology-based relational database access is the hot spot both in Semantic Web community and database community, and it takes ontology as a unified concept view which helps users to access relational data sources in a transparent way. This article describes the current states of ontology based relational database access in following aspects: ontology choosing, mapping (between ontology and relational database) generation and maintenance, query rewriting and answering, and so on. We also discuss the problems need to be solved in the future, and point out future direction of this technology.
