Observation:Wang Guowei's Poetics from the Perspective of Language Contact
Since the late Qing dynasty,Chinese language has started the process of modern reconstruction.The deep interaction and contact between Chinese and foreign languages is an important driving force,and Wang Guowei played an active role in this process.With the aid of"Neologism",he formulated"Literature"as a humanistic"Science",and formed a new understanding of the relationship between language and thought,language and literature,which is different from the Chinese tradition and originated from European comparative linguistics,when expressing thoughts and feelings,words(spoken words)are more direct,natural and trans-parent than words.This understanding of elevating speech makes it conform to the general trend of"Chinese character revolution"and"Literature Revolution"in modern China,with a hidden anti-traditional tendency.Wang's theory of language,together with his poetic ideas,has a great influence on modern China,but it should also be seen that Wang's poetics is based on neologisms,in the interpretation of Chinese literary tradi-tion,there are inevitable problems such as discord and contradiction,misplaced understanding,lack of effec-tiveness and so on.
