Further Research on Zheshi(这是)at the End of the Sentence
The phenomenon of Zheshi(这是 literally meaning this is)being located at the end of a sentence is quite common in modern Chinese and has attracted academic attention.However,there are still significant differences in understanding among scholars.Zheshiin Chinese is a cross layer structure that originally used to indicate pronouns and judgment verbs,and belongs to the indirect component in syntactic structure.However,in modern Chinese,they are often located at the end of a sentence,gradually becomea fixed word,as an empty component at the end of a sentence.As a virtual element,it has strong selectivity towards sentence structures and presents complex linguistic,semantic,and prag-matic characteristics.From the perspective of its word formation conditions,language style,context,syntactic position,prosody,and frequen-cy of use all play a significant role.
