Analysis of Slote's Concept of"Receptivity"——On the Value Connotation of"Receptivity"
Slote's'receptivity'refers to the'human ability to actively feel(especially feel emotions)'.The West overly focuses on ra-tional projection,lacks attention to emotions,and neglects their value.Although Hume centered around"emotion",there were still too many projections in"sympathy".Projection is'projectivity'.In its theory of"empathy","receptivity"avoids excessive emotional pro-jection and includes"projectivity"within its own concept.Slote borrowed and transformed the concept of"yin/yang",ultimately descri-bing the relationship between"receptivity"and"projectivity"as an inseparable"complementarity",which improved the concept of"receptivity".It can be imagined that Slote's proposal and application of the concept of"receptivity"and his transformation of the con-cept of"yin/yang"have profound value for Western philosophy,Chinese philosophy and even World philosophy.
