A Study on the Subjective View in Shi Tao's Discourses on Painting
Discourses on Painting by the Bitter Melon Monk is a theoretical work on painting from the early Qing Dynasty, which primari-ly concerns the fundamental aesthetic ideas of Chinese landscape painting. In this work, the concept of"one painting"is taken as the core, elucidating the perspective of the subject"I"in the creation of paintings.Starting from the subject consciousness"I",the article examines the significant role of the creative subject in the realms of brushwork, form, and aesthetics in landscape painting as proposed in Discourses on Painting.Analyzing the role of the creator's subjective consciousness in Discourses on Painting allows for a deeper explora-tion of the creative concepts embedded within Shi Tao's painting philosophy.
