International Research Progress and Trends on Contract Governance for Public Services Outsourcing——A Bibliometric Analysis Based on SSCI-indexed Articles from 2006 to 2023
Effective contract governance is essential for ensuring the government's success in the outsourcing of public services.This article reviews SSCI-indexed literature from 2006 to 2023 to explore the landscape,focal points,and evolving trends in international research concerning the contract governance of public services outsourcing in terms of spatio-temporal distribution,journal distribution,keyword co-occurrence,keyword cluster,and burst detection.The results reveal,the spatial and temporal distribution indicates a fluctuating increase in publication numbers,an accelerating increase in citation frequency,and a predominance of publications from the USA and the UK;the journal distribution shows a dispersion of source journals and a certain proportion of interdisciplinary journals;the core literature employs quantitative,qualitative,and mixed research methods,focusing on discussing the inter-subject relationships,decision-making mechanisms,and influencing factors of contract governance;the hot topics mainly centered on risks,tools,and performance;the evolution process displays clear phased characteristics and can be divided into three stages:research on contract governance costs(2006-2014),research on contract implementation(2015-2019),and research on contract governance innovation(2020-2023);the future focus of research may be on accountability in contract governance,contract design innovation,and contract governance relationships.
