Analysis of the epidemiological changes of respiratory pathogens in 4 747 children with acute lower respiratory tract infection from 2022 to 2023
OBJECTIVE Exploring the epidemiological changes of common respiratory pathogens in hospitalized children of acute lower respiratory infection(ALRI),providing a basis for the prevention and treatment of respiratory infections in children.METHODS The participants of the study were 4 747 children hospitalized for ALRI in Zhangzhou Municipal Hospital of Fujian Province from January 2022 to December 2023.Throat swab specimens were collected, and 13 respiratory pathogens were detected using multiplex PCR.The detection rates of 13 respiratory pathogens were collected and analyzed.RESULTS The positive rate of pathogen detection was significantly higher in 2023(63.07%,1 204/1 909)than that in 2022(59.23%,1 681/2 838;P<0.05).The detection rates of Mp,influenza A(FluA),influenza A H1N1 pdm09 virus(H1N1)and respiratory syncytial virus(RSV)in 2023 were higher than that in 2022.In contrast, the detection rates of adenovirus, human bocavirus, influenza A H3N2 virus, parainfluenza virus, human metapneumovirus, influenza B and HRV in 2023 were lower than that in 2022,respectively(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS The detection rates of respiratory pathogens Mp,FluA,H1N1,and RSV in children with ALRI in Zhangzhou area are showing an upward trend. It is necessary to strengthen monitoring, prevention and control in response to changes in pathogen prevalence trends.
