Investigation and analysis of deciduous teeth caries status in preschool children aged 3-6 years in Haicang District of Xiamen
OBJECTIVE To analyze the deciduous teeth caries status in preschool children in Haicang District of Xiamen,in order to provide a basis for the prevention of dental caries in children in this area.METHODS A total of 10 083 preschool children from 27 public kindergartens in Haicang District were selected as respondents from March 2023 to November 2023 by cluster random sampling method.Oral health examination was carried out,and the incidence and treatment of deciduous teeth caries were counted,and the characteristics of dental caries and its influencing factors were analyzed.RESULTSThe mean DMFT of 10 083 preschool children was 2.77,the prevalence of caries was 60.35%,and the filling rate of dental caries was 32.16%.The caries prevalence rates of boys and girls were 53.31%and 46.69%,respectively.There was no significant difference between the caries prevalence rates of children of different genders in this area(x2=1.792,P=0.181).The mean DMFT,the caries prevalence rate and the filling rate of children in the small class(3-4 years old)were 2.12,48.80%and 13.02%,respectively.In the middle class(4-5 years old),the mean DMFT was 2.92,the caries prevalence rate was 61.77%,and the filling rate was 27.95%.In the large class(5-6 years old),the mean DMFT was 3.17,the caries prevalence rate was 68.67%,and the filling rate was 47.08%.The mean DMFT,caries prevalence rate and filling rate increased with age,and the differences among different age groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The prevalence rate of deciduous dental caries in preschool children aged 3-6 years in Haicang District of Xiamen is high,and the filling rate of dental caries is low.It is suggested that relevant departments should strengthen children's oral health education and formulate effective measures to reduce the prevalence rate of dental caries in children.
