Investigation and analysis of health literacy, social support, and self-management status of maintenance hemodialysis patients
Objective:To explore the current status of health literacy, social support, and self-management in patients with maintenance hemodialysis.Methods:324 patients with maintenance hemodialysis admitted to Yan'an University School of Medicine from March 2021 to May 2023 were selected as the research subjects.HeLMS was used to evaluate patients'health literacy,self-management scale was used to evaluate patients'self-management ability, and SSRS was used to evaluate patients'social support level. The score of SSRS scale≤22 was classified as low level,23-44 as medium level, and 45-66 as high level.HeLMS score,self-management ability score and SSRS score were observed.Spearman correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between health literacy,self-management ability and social support status. Results:In the HeLMS score of patients, the scores of communication and interaction ability, health improvement intention, information acquisition ability and financial support intention were respectively(32.43±3.98),(14.02±1.95),(34.65±7.12)and(7.03±2.13),and the total score was(86.17±12.06).In the score of patients'self-management ability, the scores of executive self-care,problem solving, emotional processing and partnership were respectively(19.76±4.12),(13.45±3.11),(8.98±2.13),(9.65±3.01),and the total score was(56.80±7.97).In the SSRS score of patients, the objective support, subjective support, and social support utilization scores were(9.12±3.02),(18.11±5.67),(9.87±1.13),respectively,and the total score was(36.78±6.87).The HeLMS score and self-management ability score of patients with high-level social support were higher than those of patients with medium and low-level social support(P<0.05);The HeLMS score of patients with moderate social support was higher than that of patients with low social support(P<0.05).The Spearman correlation analysis results showed that health literacy and self-management ability were positively correlated with social support status(r=0.675,0.883,P<0.05).Conclusion:The overall health literacy,self-management ability, and social support status of maintenance hemodialysis patients are at a relatively low level, and their health literacy and self-management ability are positively correlated with their social support status. In clinical practice, corresponding measures should be actively taken to provide more social support for patients to improve their self-management ability and health literacy.
