The effect of compound sulfamethoxazole in the treatment of pertussis in children
Objective:To explore the clinical efficacy of using compound sulfamethoxazole to treat pertussis in children.Methods:100 pediatric pertussis patients admitted to Xinjiang Hospital were selected from January 2020 to June 2024,and were divided into observation group and control group by using random number table method, with 50 in each group. The control group was treated with macrolide drugs, while the observation group was treated with compound sulfamethoxazole. The duration of clinical symptoms and curative effect were compared between the two groups. Results:The duration of nocturnal cough, vomiting after coughing, facial flushing during coughing, and spasmodic cough in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group(P<0.05).The total effective rate of treatment was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Compared to macrolide drugs, the compound sulfamethoxazole is more effective in treating children with pertussis, significantly improving the overall treatment efficacy and shortening the duration of clinical symptoms, which provides a more efficient treatment option for children with pertussis.
