Investigation of Influencing Factors and Optimization Methods for Repeatability of LVDT
A theoretical analysis and software simulation were conducted for issues concerning the impact of external factors on the repeatability of LVDT in use.It suggested that when the LVDT core was disrupted,radial jitter occurred,causing measure-ment errors from both geometric relations and magnetic fields.A repeatability testing system for LVDT was designed in this paper.Three measuring points within the LVDT scale range including 5 mm,15 mm and 25 mm were chosen for testing.The results ex-hibited good consistency between theoretical analysis and testing.To enhance the repeatability of LVDT,the approach of using precision linear bearings to limit the radial motion of the LVDT core was proposed.After optimization,the standard deviations of the measurement repeatability at 5 mm,15 mm and 25 mm reduce respectively from 0.073 23 mm,0.126 33 mm,0.159 66 mm to 0.037 57 mm,0.048 68 mm,0.043 01 mm.The dispersion of the measurement values significantly decreased,verifying the feasibility and effectiveness of the optimization method.
