Philosophical Turn in Classicization Process of Lao Zi:Taking Wang Bi's Lao Zi Zhu as an Example
In the history of Chinese philosophy, the formation of many philosophical classics is not one sage's teaching or an achievement overnight, but depends on the continuous interpretation of the same text by future generations of thinkers, expanding its meaning, deepening its discourse,so that the text continues its life in the history of interpretation and constantly reveals new dimensions of thinking, and finally becomes a classic. As a philosophical classic in Chinese philosophy with profound thoughts, rich versions, interpreted and annotated by a large number of thinkers,Lao Zi is a representative of classicization in the history of thought.Among the Lao Zi annotations,Wang Bi's notes show a depth of thought and rational spirit beyond others, sweeping away the nihilism and transcendental tendencies of the previous Lao Zi studies, revealing the broad ideas and strong explanatory power of the Lao Zi text, laying a solid foundation for its canonization.By analyzing the relevant characteristics of Wang Bi's Lao Zi Zhu and comparing with the Lao Zi texts before Wang Bi,the rationaliza-tion and philosophical turn of Lao Zi's texts in the interpretive history can be clearly presented, thereby reveal-ing the group process of classicization of philosophical texts.
