Objective To investigate the correlation between non—bronchial systemicarterial(NBSA) bloodsupply and hemoptysis in order to improve the therapeutic results of interventional treatment. Methods Theclinical data, CT andDSAimaging of 46 patients with hemoptysiswere retrospectively analyzed. The occurrence of NBSA involving in the lesion’s bloodsupply, the formation of broncho—pulmonary shunt(BPS)were determined. The relationships between each other of the factors wereanalyzed.Statistical analysis wasper-formed by using X2 test. Results In 20 patients a total of 43NBSAs were involved in hemoptysis.Of the 43NBSAs,coexisting BPS was found in 37(86.0%).Of the 20 patients, pleural thickening were seenin 17(85.0%).The correlation between NBSA blood supply BPS and hemoptysis in patients with pleural thickeningwas statisticallysignificant (P<O.05).Conclusion The NBSAs related to the blood supply of hemoptysis. Its participation in hemoptysis is strongly related to thepleural thickening, and in most cases it is accompa-nied with BPS.
