Objective:To evaluate the diagnostic value of multi- detector CT in common malignant tumor arising in the ileocecal area. Methods:CT findings of using multi- detector CT on 53 patients with pathological y and surgical y proven tumors arising in the ileocecal area were retrospec-tively analyzed. Results:There were 44 cases of adenocarcinoma, including cecal adenocarcinomas(31 cases),adenocarcinomas of the appendix (11 cases),most commonly CT features such as a irregular mass with uneven density with necrosis, demonstrated surrounding fat interspace infiltration, with moderate en-hancement;two cases of appendiceal mucinous cystadenoma,CT features such as long ovoid cystic tumor in right iliac fossa with even and regular cystic wal , with granular and curved calcification, with uneven density, with defined boundary. one case of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor, which the CT showed a irregular soft- tissue mass with unsmooth rim ,with moderate enhancement, with even density;one cases of lymphoma in the terminal ileum, which the CT featured as bowel wal thickening and softening, with intestinal cavity expansion like“Aneurismal dilatation”,with poor- moderate enhancement;two cases of malignant gastrointestinal stromal tumors, which the CT featured as relatively sharply marginated, round mass, with uneven density with necrosis ,enhancement usual y involve only the rim;and three cases of metastatic tumor, which the CT showed a soft- tissue mass heterogeneous attenuation. Conclusion:MDCT is a simple and feasible method for detecting tumors diseases of ileocecal area, and it can improve the diagnostic value with utilization of MPR/CPR.
