OBJECTIVE To reduce false positive rate of blood culture in ICU through PDCA cycle management. METHODS After analyzing the cause of blood culture contamination and adopting relative interventions by tracking the positive samples of al blood cultures from January to June in 2012, the arti-cle continues to track the positive cases of al blood cultures from July to December in 2012 by PDCA cycle management. RESULTS The false positive rate of blood culture samples after adopting interventions through PDCA cycle management is reduced(P<0.05). CONCLUSION Using PDCA cycle management method can improve the quality of blood culture samples continuously, which can effectively enhance the passing rate of specimen col ected to ensure accurate test results.
