Simulation and Experimental Study on Temperature Field of B4C Ceramic EDM Process
B4C ceramics have the characteristics of high hardness and low density,and have broad application prospects in mili-tary armor and other fields.However,due to high hardness and brittleness,traditional processing methods are difficult to process holes and slots.Considering the semi-conductive characteristics,the EDM method is proposed to study the hole machining tech-nology.The single pulse temperature field in the process of electric spark discharge is simulated and modeled by ANSYS soft-ware.The radius,depth and temperature field of the pit are output,and the cone angle physical quantity is introduced for simula-tion and test comparison.The results show that the radius and depth of the pit increase with the increase of peak current and pulse width.The characteristics of the temperature field meet the normal distribution of the Gaussian heat source;the simulation cone angle and the test cone angle are more suitable with the increase of peak current and pulse width.
