Relationship between Casting Stress and Prime and Composite Numbers of Sopkes in Whorled Phyllotaxy
This paper studies the relationship between casting stress and prime and composite numbers of the spokes during casting from a biological perspective based on the growth theory of whorled phyllotaxy plants.Firstly, according to the leaf arrangement of whorled phyllotaxy plant,3-dimensional modeling software is applied to establish models of equal-mass hubs and molds with spoke numbers of 3,4,5,6,7 and 8,respectively.Secondly,casting simulation software is applied to carry out low-pressure casting of the hub. Finally, the relationship between casting stress and prime and composite numbers of the the spoke is analyzed according to the simulation results. The results show that casting stress increases with the increase of number of spokes, and the values of casting stress between adjacent prime and composite numbers 3 and 4,5 and 6,and 7and 8 are similar. In addition, when the spokes is in combined number, two spokes are in the same straight line and easy to generate cracks. Therefore, when manufacturing hubs, casting stress can be reduced by reducing the number of spokes and defining prime number of spokes.
