Study on External Spiral Ice Mining and Ice Chip Movement in the Lunar Polar Region by Simulation
In view of the problem of multi-point repeated lunar ice mining,this paper proposes a method of external spiral ice mining by using deep groove auger.This paper studies the moving characteristics of particles of ice chips during the drilling process,derives the critical speed equation by establishing mathematical models of the force and speed of ice particles,and studies the impact of different spiral speeds on the moving characteristics of the ice chips based on EDEM simulation.The results show that when the spiral speed is 600r/min,the average axial speed of ice particles have increased by 25%than before;and the relative error between the simulation value and the theoretical value of the average axial speed of ice particles is within 12%.The above research results can provide reference for design of ice mining devices applicable for lunar polar region.
