In view of multiple defects found during finishing machining of 30Cr1Mo1V high pressure rotor, defect areas of the rotor are cut for SEM energy spectrum analysis and have found that the defects are caused by inclusions.Analysis of the smelting process has revealed that defects at core areas are mainly caused by Al2O3,SiO2 and CaO inclusions, with Al2O3 having the highest content(supposedly caused by secondary oxidation);inclusions in the crack defects are mainly ZrO,CaO and Al2O3,by considering composition of the tundish and refractory of the guide tube assembly,it is believed that big cracks are caused by inclusions from erosion of tundish, and small cracks are caused by inclusions from erosion of guide tube assembly.
