Avoidance and Salvation:Poetry Creation of HAN Bao-zhong and Members of Wushan Society
Association is the most important social activity of Han Baozhong in his later years, and it is an indis-pensable part of studying Han Baozhong.Among the numerous clubs he participated in,the Wushan Society, which combines religion, charity, and literature, was the most unique and deeply influenced the society and cul-ture of the Republic of China.Han Baozhong and his colleagues in Wushan Society actively engaged in poetic har-mony,reflecting the struggle of Han Baozhong and others in choosing between seclusion and salvation. On the one hand, the frustration in the officialdom led them to develop the idea of seclusion, using religious beliefs as a means of life and living a"monastic"life; On the other hand, they are not willing to be"isolated"from the world, and use the enlightening role of religion and its own influence to preach and spread knowledge in turbulent times, actively saving the world.Starting from the poetry of Wushan Society,we can not only examine the complex men-tality of literati in turbulent times, but also explore the intricate connections between religion, literature, society, and other aspects. It is an excellent window to trace back the literature and history of the Republic of China.
