The provincial higher education development research has undergone a long period of budding.It's not until in the end of 1980's that relevant papers has been found.It took shape around in 2015 with its first compara-tively systematic research findings.Afterwards,it has quickened its speed and more and more relevant findings have come into being.Throughout its evolution,the research has taken on at least three characteristics or trends.Firstly,researchers try to get rid of the impact of west-centred paradigm and mark traditional Chinese higher education as its starting point.Secondly,researchers manage to eradicate the education centrism and em-phasize the interaction between higher education and social requirements like politics,economy and culture,etc.Thirdly,The subjects of provincial higher education research in modern times have been expanded from the coastal provinces and the ones along the Yangtze River where modern higher education developed much better to the provinces where it evolved slowly and immaturely.
