A Corpus-based Study of ZHANG Peiji's Styles in English Essays Translation
Zhang Peiji's English translation of essays is highly representative of literary translation in China.Based on the relevant corpus,a comparative study is carried out and the results show that Zhang's styles of English translation of essays are mainly reflected in the following aspects:large degree of variation in words and novel col-locations;high lexical density and rich contents;functional words being explicit and subjectivities prominent;sentences being short and less passive sentences;most sentences in the source text and in the targeted text matc-hing,essays'meanings being clear and easy to arouse the readers'feelings.The reasons for the above translation styles may stem from the social and cultural environment and the translation methods held by the translator.
