An Interpretation Study of Chapter"Xing Yu Shi"in English Translation of Analects of Confucius
There is still controversy over the interpretation of the"Xing Yu Shi"chapter in the current version of the Analects, which has been annotated by scholars from ancient and modern times. However, current research has paid little attention to the understanding of overseas English translations. Both the English translation of the Analects of Confucius and related annotations lack a holistic perspective to understand this chapter, limited to methodological meaning and lacking a perspective on realm meaning.Through the analysis of the chapter"Xing Yu Shi"in the four representative translations of the Analects by assistants James Legge,Arthur David Waley,Ezra Weston Loomis Pound, and Roger Thomas Ames, the contradictions in this chapter are highlighted in order to better interpret and translate the meaning of the chapter in meaning of realm and method, making the meaning of this chapter richer, the translation more accurate, and easy to understand.
