A Meta-analysis of the Effect of Curcumin on TNF-α Expression in Macrophages Induced by LPS
Objective:To investigate the effect of curcumin on TNF-α secreted by macrophages induced by lipopo-lysaccharide(LPS).Methods:Literature on the relationship between curcumin and cytokine TNF-α concentra-tion in full-text databases were searched and the search starts from the database construction to November 2023.Quantitative synthesis of the literature data was performed using RevMan5.3 analysis software.Results:Ac-cording to the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the literature,a total of 8 related articles were included. The meta-analysis results showed that the difference in TNF-α concentrations produced by macrophages in the curcumin+LPS group compared with the LPS group was significant(P<0.05).The combined overall MD value was-506.336,with a 95%CI of(-770.06 to-242.66).There was strong heterogeneity among the studies, and the subgroup analysis revealed that macrophage species were an important source of heterogeneity.Conclusion:Curcu-min is able to inhibit the production of the inflammatory factor TNF-α by activated macrophages, which may be one of the anti-inflammatory mechanisms of curcumin.
