Establishment of National New Zone and Development of Regional Export Trade
There is still a lack of literature evaluating and summarizing the policy effects of state-level new areas on the export trade development of the host city and its neighboring cities.Based on the Chinese Customs data and the panel data of 286 prefecture-level cities from 2003 to 2015,this paper uses the multi-time difference-in-differences method to make an empirical analysis, and finds that the construction of national new areas can signifi-cantly promote the expansion of the export scale of the city, but has no significant impact on the neighboring cit-ies.In terms of the high-quality development of export trade, the construction of state-level new areas will have a statistically significant impact on the quality improvement of export products in the city and its neighboring cit-ies,but the economic significance of these effects is relatively weak. The construction of national new areas has played a significant positive role in promoting the expansion of regional export scale, and promoting the high-quality development of export trade should be a key strategic task of the construction of national new areas in the future.
