How Technology Empowers Students'Epistemic Agency:Design and Implementation of Embedded Discourse Feedback System WiseTalk
Teaching needs to provide embedded feedback for students to support their epistemic agency.As the current embedded discourse feedback tools have problems such as the lack of close correlation between feedback and students'discourse and the lack of systematic feedback,the embedded discourse feedback system is designed and developed for each dimension of epistemic agency to provide students with immediate feedback based on the current discourse.Firstly,the theoretical framework of embedded discourse feedback system enabling epistemic agency is constructed.Then,according to the specific dimension of epistemic agency,feedback elements are proposed and the architecture and algorithm of WiseTalk are designed.Golang,JavaScript language and MySQL database are used to develop related functions.After a quasi-experimental study,the results showed that students who used WiseTalk showed higher levels of epistemic agency(intentionality,self-regulation,and self-reflection)than students who did not use WiseTalk.
