The Impact of Self-rated Weight on Adolescent Sports Participation—An empirical analysis based on CEPS data
Self-rated weight plays an important role in adolescent sports participation, but there is little in-depth empirical analysis based on national sample data in existing studies.Using literature review, propensity score matching, and other methods, this study aims to explore the impact of self-rated weight on adolescent sports participation using data from the China Education Tracking Survey(CEPS)from 2014 to 2015 as a sample. The research results indicate that self-rated weight has a significant promoting effect on adolescent sports participation, especially among girls and adolescents with no interest in sports.Research recommendations:provide psychological health support, strengthen media literacy education, guide positive social comparison, and eliminate weight bias.
