Thermal Infrared Remote Sensing of Surface Temperature Inversion:Current Status and Future Prospects
Starting from the Planck function and thermal infrared radiative transfer equation, this paper gives an overview of the basic principles of the thermal infrared remote sensing for surface temperature inversion. It also summarizes thermal infrared sensors and the corresponding bands used in the inversion of surface temperature. Algorithms for the inversion of surface temperature are divided into three categories:single channel,split-window and multi-channel,and typical algorithms of each class are analyzed from the view of the principle, applicable conditions and accuracy. The main problems faced by the thermal infrared remote sensing for surface temperature inversion are also summarized from the aspects of the thermal infrared remote sensing mechanism, emissivity, environmental radiation, mixed pixels and atmospheric effects, and the development trend of the thermal infrared remote sensing for surface temperature inversion is further pointed out in this paper.
