In the Ming Dynasty,Linqing Wei was located at the intersection of the north and south of the canal,and it was prosperous because of the canal and had an extreme-ly significant strategic position.In order to ensure the safety of the Canal Transport and the capital,the Linqing Wei was established in the 14th years of Emperor Zhengtong(1449).The evolution of Linqing Wei-suo reflected the transformation from Myriarchy Office to Wei in the Yuan and Ming Dynasties and the gradual expansion and improvement of the Wei-suo Institute in the Ming Dynasty.Canal Transportation and reclamation were the two main functions of Linqing Wei.The development of Linqing Wei and Shandong Canal were complementary and inseparable,and the rise and fall of Linqing Wei was always accompanied by the rise and fall of Shandong Canal.
