THE EFFECT OF INTERVENTION BY YING YANG BAO ON THE LEVEL OF SECRETORY IMMUNOGLOBULIN A IN THE SALIVA OF INFANTS AND YOUNG CHILDREN
Objective To investigate the effect of Yingyang Bao(YYB)intervention on the levels of secretory immunoglobulin A(sIgA)in the saliva of infants and young children(IYC)aged 6-24 months. Methods IYC in the intervention area with YYB and the adjacent areas not intervened with YYB were selected to observe their nutrition and health status after nutrition intervention.IYC in the intervention group were given a daily bag of YYB during the period of 6-24 months, while those in the control group were not.In addition, scientific and healthy feeding guidance was provided for both the control group and the intervention group.During three consecutive years from 2018 to 2020,the saliva samples were collected and the content of sIgA was detected, and the changes of the content of sIgA in their saliva were compared and analyzed. Results In this study, the content of sIgA in saliva of IYC increased with months, and there was no significant difference in the content of sIgA between the intervention group and the control group at the baseline stage in 2018.In 2019 and 2020,the content of sIgA in saliva in the intervention group was higher than that in the neighboring control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Yingyang Bao can improve the level of sIgA in saliva and enhance the immunity in infants and young children.[ACTA NUTRIMENTA SINICA,2024,46(1):13-17]
