A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW ON LONGITUDINAL CHANGES OF PROTEIN CONTENT IN BREAST MILKS IN DIFFERENT LACTATION PERIODS
Objective To systematically review the changes of total protein levels in different lactation periods and special cases in breast milk, and provide data support for exploring Chinese infants'protein requirements. Methods Systematic retrieval of literatures was performed from 5 English databases and 3 Chinese databases. The data were filtering by the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and data extraction and merging were conducted by lactational periods when the same experimental method was used for determining the total protein content in breast milk. Results A total of 62 English articles and 16 Chinese articles were included,in which 15 articles of Chinese term milk samples,51 articles of foreign term milk samples,2 articles of Chinese preterm milk samples and 10 articles of foreign preterm milk samples were collected. In total,1816 Chinese milk samples and 6002 foreign milk samples were used for data merging. The protein levels in Chinese milk samples and foreign milk samples were gradually decreased throughout lactation stages. Conclusion The mean and standard deviation of protein levels of term and preterm breast milk in different lactational periods were calculated,Which contribute to study on infants'protein requirements in China.[ACTA NUTRIMENTA SINICA,2024,46(1):86-94]
