Research on Standard Penetration Test in Loess Regions
Standard penetration test plays a crucial role in engineering exploration, often used to determine the bearing capacity of foundations and predict foundation settlement, which is related to the safety and stability of buildings. Therefore, understanding the correlation between standard penetration tests and basic physical indicators of soil is crucial for foundation engineering. The article is based on the loess region and analyzes the variation law of water content and dry density between standard penetration samples and undisturbed samples through standard penetration tests and indoor tests,as well as the correlation between the number of standard penetration blows in loess strata and the dry density, water content, and plasticity index of the strata. The results showed that the fluctuation amplitude of water content in undisturbed and standard penetration samples increased with depth, while the fluctuation amplitude of dry density in undisturbed samples decreased with depth. The overall amplitude of dry density in standard penetration samples increased with depth; The number of standard penetration tests in loess strata is positively correlated with dry density and plasticity index, but negatively correlated with water content. The sample results can provide reference and basis for subsequent engineering exploration.
