In order to understand the reinforcement effect of prestressed steel rope on bridge pier, this paper uses Abaqus software to simulate the reinforcement of solid and hollow concrete pier columns. The research shows that due to the influence of the friction between the steel rope and the concrete, the prestress loss occurs along the steel rope, and the tension end gradually decreases to the far end;the radial and tangential compressive stresses of the concrete are affected by the change of the tension force of the steel rope and the spacing arrangement, showing uneven distribution on the surface of pier column;the friction coefficient increases from 0.05 to 0.40,and the maximum friction loss increases from 14.5%to 71.5%.Measures should be taken to reduce the friction effect.
