Effect of Pressure,Temperature and Composition on Gas Discharge Characteristics
In order to deeply and accurately understand the influence of the characteris-tic parameters of the gas on its discharge characteristics, the effects of gas pressure,tem-perature and composition on the discharge characteristics under the wire-tube and wire-plate electric fields were analyzed respectively. The results show that as the gas pressure in-creases,the volt-ampere characteristic curve shifts to the right, and the breakdown voltage is approximately linear with the gas pressure when the gas pressure is low(<0.08 MPa),and is basically logarithmic or exponential when the gas pressure>0.08 MPa.By increasing from atmospheric pressure to 0.24 MPa,the breakdown voltage of the wire-tube type elec-tric field is elevated by 30%to 40%,and the breakdown current decreases by about 60%.Meanwhile,the breakdown voltage of the wire-plate type electric field rises by about 50%,and the breakdown current does not change much.As the gas temperature increases, the volt-ampere characteristic curve shifts to the left. The effect of gas composition on voltage is more pronounced than on current, and the magnitude of the effect is related to the pro-portion of electronegative gas in it.
