Research and Demonstration of Low Temperature Waste Heat Recovery from Power Plant Circulating Water
A CHP plant utilizes electrically heated water tanks to heat demineralized water, which consumes large amounts of electricity and is ineffective. To address this problem,a high-efficiency low-resistance baffle rod heat exchanger was designed, and a new process of utilizing low-temperature waste heat of circulating water to heat demineralized water instead of electric heat-ing was proposed and demonstrated in engineering application.Numerical simulation of the heat ex-changer conjugate heat transfer was carried out to optimize the design, and the numerical simulation results show that the new baffle rod heat exchanger structure has achieved a good balance between the pressure drop and the total heat transfer coefficient, and it can maintain a higher total heat trans-fer coefficient at low Reynolds number, which is adaptable to the requirements of variable load op-eration.Low-load test was carried out in the demonstration project, and the test results matched the simulated values, which verified that the heat exchanger has good heat transfer performance at low Reynolds number and overcame the common problems of conventional baffle rod heat exchanger.
