Meta-analysis of the clinical efficacy of the Allgower-Donati suture versus the Donati suture in calcaneal fracture surgery
Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of the Allgower-Donati suture method compared to the Donati suture method in calcaneal fracture surgery through Meta-analysis.Methods Literature relevant to suturing methods for calcaneal fractures was systematically searched in Chinese and English databases including China Knowledge Network,Wipo Journal Network,Wanfang Database,FMRS,PubMed,etc.,from database inception to June 2023.The Cochrane tool was utilized to assess the quality of the included literature.Data were analyzed using Review Manager 5.4 software to compare the clinical effectiveness of the two suturing methods, considering variables such as operation time, incision suture time, drain retention time, incision heal-ing time, postoperative incision scar size, and postoperative VAS score. Results A total of 13 articles were included in the Meta-analysis.The results showed that the differences in operative time, incision healing time, and postoperative VAS score were not statistically significant. However, significant differences were observed in the incision suture time[OR=-0.50,95%CI(-0.92,-0.08),P=0.02],drain retention time[OR=-0.07,95%CI(-0.13,-0.01),P=0.03],and the size of the postoperative incision scar[OR=-0.42,95%CI(-0.83,0.01),P=0.04],the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion The clinical effi-cacy of the Allgower-Donati suture method is superior to that of the Donati suture method in calcaneal fracture surgery.
