In order to solve the problem of frequent failures of vaporization water supply pump unit of converter in steel-making plants,combined with the actual production situation,this paper analyzes the causes of failures.There are three major defects in this water supply pump unit:overloading operation of the motor,large vibration of the pump unit,and frequent start-up.Through the frequency conversion transformation of the electrical control of the water supply pump and the optimization of the starting control mode,the vaporization water supply pump unit of the converter runs stably,the failure rate is reduced to 0,and the annual cost can be saved by over 250,000 yuan.
