Analysis on Cause of Surface Upwarp Defects in ML20MnTiB Wire
The optical microscope and SEM were used to examine the morphology and composition defect of the cross-section,and the gas content of the finished wire was examined by a nitrogen oxide analyzer. It is considered that the large amount of TiN inclusions generated due to the high nitrogen content in steel which is the fundamental reason for the formation of surface defects in wire rods.By adjusting the charging structure of ML20MnTiB wire and strengthening the control of the production process, and then controlling the nitrogen content less than 0.006 0%in the steel, can effectively control the generation of TiN inclusions, and the occurrence of warpage defects on the wire surface can be effectively avoided.
