Examining the Alienation Dilemma of Capitalist Time
With the continuous development and evolution of capitalist governance techniques, modern capitalist societies have fallen into a multidimensional dilemma of time alienation.First, there is the reification and control of quantified time, where the rhythms of human production and life are precisely quantified, reconstructed, and manipulated under the reified domination of capital.Second, there is the implicit deprivation of free time,as individuals'free time is subtly expropriated through the intricate control networks of consumerism under the advancing logic of capital.Third, there is the comprehensive governance of life time, where individuals'life and living time are absorbed, governed, and controlled in a detailed and all-encompassing manner under the disciplinary power of capital. As a result, workers become alienated from their authentic life purposes, ultimately transforming into docile subjects serving the interests of capital accumulation. The appropriation, control, and regulation of individuals'free time by capitalist power exhibits a multidimensional evolution in modern capitalist society.Constrained by its inherent limitations, the capitalist mode of production is incapable of escaping the self-imposed predicament of time alienation. In contrast, the socialist mode of production offers a viable solution for overcoming this dilemma.
