Breaking the"Double Disadvantage":Study on the Mechanism of Internationalization and Innovation in Digital Enterprises—From the Perspective of Optimal Distinction
Digital enterprises face the challenge of"double disadvantages"resulting from the combined effects of disadvantages from the source country and new entrants in international innovation.To overcome these"double disadvantages",digital enterprises must devise effective international innovation strategies that balance"differentiation"and"legitimacy".It took the successful experience of TikTok's entry into the US market as an example,and extracted a model of the evolution of international innovation strategy for digital enterprises using the optimal distinction theory.The research findings reveal that,firstly,digital enterprises break through the"new entrant disadvantage"by balancing the differentiation and legitimacy of digital platforms through reactive collaboration.Secondly,by leveraging proactive collaboration to balance the differentiation and legitimacy of digital platforms,digital enterprises overcome the"source country disadvantage"and ultimately dominate the international market.These findings provide a systematic analysis framework and managerial insights for the international innovation of digital enterprises from the perspective of optimal distinction.
