Do Strategic Cognition Differences Affect Firm Innovation?—An Empirical Study Based on Text Topic Analysis
In the era of knowledge economy,the marginal contribution of knowledge to innovation exceeds the traditional material production factors,and the technological innovation advantages are more derived from the change of managers'cognition.It discussed the impact of the difference between managers'strategic cognition and industry shared beliefs on technological innovation,and considerd the mediating effect of exploratory learning and knowledge portfolio diversity.The research results show that strategic cognition differences significantly promote technological innovations represented by patent applications,and positively affect the quality of technological innovation represented patent external citations.Further research also finds that exploratory learning and knowledge portfolio diversity play a partial mediating role in the relationship between strategic cognitive differences and technological innovation.The heterogeneity analysis finds that under the intervention of family authority and administrative system,managers'strategic cognitive differences show more significant technological innovation effect in non-family and non-state-owned samples.The results expand the literature on the antecedents of technological innovation from the perspective of strategic cognitive differences,and provide a theoretical reference for understanding the innovation decision-making logic of Chinese enterprises and exploring the path of cultivating innovative talents.
