Environmental Performance Feedback and the Selection of Green Innovation Models for Enterprises
Green innovation is an important way for enterprises to achieve high-quality development,but in practice,the models of green innovation for enterprises are highly diverse.According to behavioral theory of the firm,differences in environmental performance feedback levels may be an important reason for this phenomenon.It empirically analyzed the impact and mechanism of environmental performance feedback on green innovation models of heavily polluting listed companies in China from 2008 to 2022.It finds that when there is positive environmental performance feedback,enterprises tend to choose strategic green innovation(SGI)with"change"significance.When there is negative environmental performance feedback,there is a tendency to choose compliant green innovation with"compliance"significance.CEO's green background strengthens the positive effect of positive environment performance feedback on strategic green innovation,but weakens the positive effect of negative environmental performance feedback on compliant green innovation.The external environmental regulation intensity of enterprises weakens the positive effect of positive environment performance feedback on strategic green innovation,but strengthens the positive effect of negative environmental performance feedback on compliant green innovation.The analysis of expansion potential indicates that only strategic green innovation can drive high-quality development in enterprises.It makes significant contributions to the theoretical research of performance feedback and green innovation,offering practical insights for enterprises to draw upon in their green innovation endeavors.
