Impact of Autologous Limbal Stem Cell Transplantation on Postoperative Wound Healing and Prognosis in Patients with Pterygium
Objective To explore the impact of autologous limbal stem cell transplantation on postoperative wound healing and prognosis in patients with pterygium. Methods 72 patients with pterygium were randomly divided into two groups, and treated with pterygium excision. The control group was treated with amniotic membrane transplantation, and the observation group was treated with autologous corneal limbal stem cell transplantation. The treatment effect, wound healing time, visual acuity level, incidence of adverse events and recurrence rate were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, the wound healing time was shorter than that in the control group, and the incidence of adverse events and recurrence rate at 3 months after treatment were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions Autologous limbal stem cell transplantation has better effect in the treatment of pterygium, which can shorten the wound healing time of patients, and improve the visual acuity level, with higher safety and lower risk of recurrence.
