Comparison on the Effects of Sodium Fluoride Dental Protectant and Fluoride Foam in the Prevention of Primary Teeth Caries
Objective To compare the effects of sodium fluoride dental protectant and fluoride foam in the prevention of primary teeth caries. Methods 84 preschool children were randomly divided into two groups. On the basis of health education, the observation group was intervened by sodium fluoride dental protectant, and the control group was intervened by fluoride foam. The caries status, decay missing filling tooth and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results After 2 years of intervention, the caries rates of the two groups were higher than those before intervention, but the caries rate of the observation group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05);After 2 years of intervention, the new added caries rate of the observation group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).After 2 years of intervention, the decay missing filling tooth of the two groups were higher than those before intervention, but the decay missing filling tooth of the observation group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05);After 2 years of intervention, the new decay missing filling tooth of the observation group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).During the 2-year intervention,no significant difference was found in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions Compared with fluoride foam, sodium fluoride dental protectant has obvious effect in preventing primary teeth caries, which can effectively reduce the caries rate and new added caries rate of primary teeth, delay the growth rate of decay missing filling tooth, and reduce the severity of primary teeth caries.
