摘要
翻译的主要目的是传递不同语言之间的信息.而翻译的主要目的之一是促进文化的交流.翻译工作往往受文化因素和背景知识的束缚与约束.语言是特定国家的文化的一部分,因此文化差异这一重要现象是翻译工作者所不能忽略的.换言之,丰富的文化背景知识是翻译工作者成功的基本要素.
Abstract
The chief purpose of translation is to convey the meaning of the source text into the target text. And one of the main objects of translation is to promote cultural exchange. Translation work is greatly influenced and confined by cultural elements and background knowledge. As language is part of the culture of nation who uses it, cultural difference is an important phenomenon that a translator should not neglect. In other words, an excellent command of cultural background knowledge is the foundation upon which a translator can lead to success in carrying out the basic principles while translating.
