Numerical simulation of fluid flow and structural design of large reactor with ring and disk baffle
Ring and disc baffle is one of the most commonly used flow diversion structures in large heat transfer reactors. The selection of structure parameters of ring and disc baffle affects the flow field characteristics of the reactor shell side. The structure characteristics of the large ring and disc baffle reactor were analyzed,it is found that 0.15~0.20 is the reasonable design range of the baffle d* in the large reactor. On this basis, the models under different relative gap area S* were established to simulate the flow field. The influences of the baffle structure parameters on the flow pattern, residence time distribution and pressure drop characteristics were analyzed comprehensively, then it was suggested that 0.15~0.30 was a reasonable design range for the baffle structure parameter S*.Finally, according to the data of the segmental-baffle heat exchanger, the performance of the ring-disc and the segmental structure was compared in the range of simulated structural conditions, which provides guidance for engineering design.
